CLEVELAND, Ohio - Sophomore leftfielder Marc Krauss (Deshler, Ohio) has been named to the 2008 Mid-American Conference All-Academic Team, the league announced.

He holds a 3.56 GPA in broadcast journalism in addition to his prodigious numbers this season on the field.

Krauss hit .332 on the year with 54 RBI, 10 home runs and 76 hits - all good for second-best amongst the Bobcats. He paced the team in on-base-percentage (.448), base on balls (48) and his 20 doubles tied for the team lead with senior and fellow outfielder Matt Stiffler.

In conference play only, he led the Bobcats in batting average, runs and doubles.

Last season, Krauss became just the third player in Bobcat history to be named to the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American team after being named first-team all-conference and the MAC Freshman of the Year.

Krauss and the Bobcats battled back after an opening round loss to Bowling Green in the conference tournament this year, rattling off back-to-back wins to reach the semifinals where they fell to eventual league champion Eastern Michigan.
