ATHENS, Ohio - Former Ohio University guard Bubba Walther has agreed to terms on a contract with ZZ Leiden of the Dutch Eredivisie (Premier League), the club announced earlier this week. He is the second American to join the club this off-season, giving Leiden four on the roster for the 2008-09 campaign.

Walther (Cincinnati, Ohio) was the Bobcats' top three-point threat a year ago, knocking down 36.4 percent (82-225) of his attempts from beyond the arc. Despite playing only two seasons in Athens, he ranks sixth in school history in three-point field goal attempts (423), eighth in three-point field goals list (156) and ninth in three-point field goal percentage (36.9).

His 225 three-point attempts and 82 three-pointers made last season also rank second and third, respectively, on Ohio's single-season charts.

The former Ohio star, who is the 39th Bobcat to sign a professional contract overseas, will almost certainly be used to bolster a Leiden attack that converted on just 30.7 percent of its three-point attempts as a team last season, and had only one player shoot better than 35 percent from long distance.
