In just three seasons at the helm of Ohio field hockey, Neil Macmillan has compiled a 39-26 (.600) career record, while leading Ohio to consecutive conference regular-season and tournament titles in 2006 and 2007.

Under Macmillan, Ohio has garnered seven All-MAC First Team selections, eight All-MAC Second Team selections and two MAC Player of the Year honors.

Last season, the `Cats posted the most wins in 25 years and were also ranked in the national coaches' poll all season long. Also for the first time since 2001, Ohio made it to the field of 16 teams in the NCAA Tournament. Macmillan was also named the 2007 Dita/NFHCA West Region Coach of the Year.

In his second year, Macmillan guided the Bobcats to their first Mid-American Conference championship in five years en route to earning MAC Coach of the Year honors. He and his staff led the Bobcats to their best overall record (13-9) since 2002 and their best conference record (8-2) in five years.

In his first season, the Bobcats finish second in the league with a 6-4 regular season mark, while battling through a grueling non-conference schedule to finish 8-12. Excelling academically as well as athletically, six of Macmillan's players were named to the NFHCA National Academic Team.

A coach and player of national distinction, Macmillan, a native of England, is just the fourth Division I male head field hockey coach and the second collegiate head coach of British descent.

Before Ohio, Macmillan made an immediate impact at Wake Forest as an assistant coach, helping guide the Demon Deacons to three consecutive NCAA Championships (2002-04), two Atlantic Coast Conference regular-season and tournament titles, four second-place ACC regular-season finishes and a record of 114-19 from 1999 through 2004. In Macmillan's six seasons in Winston Salem, the Demon Deacons advanced to the Final Four five times.

While at Wake Forest, Macmillan aided in scouting opponents, planning practices and developing game strategies. He also served as the recruiting coordinator and helped sign the 2004 National Field Hockey Player of the Year, five USA National Team members and numerous All-Americans. Other duties included organizing travel arrangements and monitoring the team's academic progress.

Since coming to the United States, Macmillan has also played an active roll in the United States Field Hockey Association. In the two years prior to his appointment at Ohio, Macmillan coached at B-Camp; a developmental program for athletes ages 15-19. In 2004, Macmillan was also selected as an assistant coach to the Under-16 U.S. National Team and was an assistant and head coach for a USFHA Summer League team, Southern Charm, from 2001-04. This past summer he coached at FDIC, which is an invitational camp for the country's elite high school players.

In 2004, Macmillan served as head coach of the Montreal Dita indoor team, which played in the North America Premier League. He has also been a mainstay on the staff at the Jennifer Averill Field Hockey Camp and helped at the UNC camp.

Prior to his coaching career in the United States, Macmillan was part of the Havant Hockey Club for 10 years, winning the National League Division One Championship in 1990 and 1991, the European Cup in 1990 and participating in the European Cup championships the following two years. Macmillan then played for the Beeston Hockey Club in the English National League at the Division One level as a goalkeeper.

While completing his studies in engineering at Loughborough University, he led the Loughborough's Students' Hockey Club to the 1995 British Universities first XI Championship and a runner-up finish in 1996. Upon completion of his degree, Macmillan was a member of the St. Albans Hockey Club in the English National League, until coming to the U.S. to be a part of the Demon Deacons' field hockey program.

Macmillan is a member of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association and United States Field Hockey Association.

Macmillan is married to Valda Vitolins. They have a son, Arijs.
