ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio goalkeeper Jessie Martin has been named to the NFHCA All-West Region First Team, while senior Torrie Albini and junior Rachelle Coetzee were selected to the All-West Region Second Team, announced today by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.

It is just one of the many accolades Martin (Louisville, Ky.) has received this year. She was named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Year and was selected to the All-MAC First Team, the MAC All-Tournament Team and the Academic All-MAC Team. She was named the MAC Defensive Player of the Week five times during the regular season and posted a career-high 12 saves against Michigan in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Martin started 22 of Ohio's 23 games and was a catalyst for the Bobcats on defense. She posted 17 wins in goal for Ohio, while tallying four shutouts and 100 saves.

"This is a fantastic award for Jessie," said Head Coach Neil Macmillan. "She has established herself as premier player, not only within our conference but certainly within our region this year. She is very worthy of this award. It is an addition to her long line of awards this year, but Jessie would be the first person to admit that they have been team awards as much as anything else."

Albini (Escondido, Calif.) joins the All-West Region Second Team for the second year in a row. She was also named to the All-MAC Second Team and the All-MAC Tournament Team. She is Ohio's second all-time leading scorer with 49 goals scored in her career and is fourth all-time in career assists with 24.

Albini will represent Ohio and the Mid-American Conference in the 2007 NFHCA Senior All-Star Game on Nov. 17, a day before the NCAA championship game in College Park, Md.

"Torrie is extremely deserving of this award," said Macmillan. "Her statistics stand up on their own, not just within our conference, but across the whole nation. For a player like her to be recognized in this way is a testament to her play on the field and the fact that she has the ability to get the job done."

Coetzee (Bloemfontein, South Africa) was also an offensive spark for the Bobcats this season. She finished second on the team with 11 goals scored, including a team-high six game-winners. Coetzee was selected first-team All-MAC for the second consecutive year and earned a spot on the All-MAC Tournament Team. She also earned her second straight Academic All-MAC award.

"Rachelle is certainly one of our more consistent players," said Macmillan. "She is very good at controlling the middle of the field for us. She has the ability to score, especially in game-winning situations. She is very deserving of this award and is one of the most skillful players in our conference."

"I am very happy for all three of them to have received this recognition from the All-American committee. It is just another honor that emphasizes how successful we were as a team. I am very proud of the players for that."
