Ohio Advances in MAC Tourney with 2-0 Win Over Central Michigan

AKRON, Ohio - The Ohio softball team defeated Central Michigan, 2-0, Thursday night to advance in the 2008 Mid-American Conference Softball Tournament.  The Bobcats will face Western Michigan tomorrow at 1:30 p.m.

Senior Alicia Catlette (Mogadore, Ohio) scored both runs for the Bobcats.  Catlette led the third inning off with a single to left field, advanced to second on a fielding error and third on a passed ball.  Catlette then reached home on an RBI double by freshman Jordan Paden (Walla Walla, Wash.). 

With two outs and Catlette on third with sophomore Shalene Petrich (Chehalis, Wash) at bat with a 1-2 count in the fifth inning, Catlette stole home to push Ohio to the 2-0 victory.


 

 

Senior Michelle Sauter (Chehalis, Wash.) got her 14th win of the season in the pitching circle.  She pitched a complete seven innings for the Bobcats, giving up just two hits while striking out five batters. 

The Bobcats are now 26-25 on the season, while the Chippewas end the year with a 25-20 record.
